A Different Kind of Baklava, Acai Berry Tart and Greek Yogurt Crème Brûlée
Fresh and fun ideas from the best food bloggers
BY THE MAGAZINE OF YOGA STAFF
Sometimes it’s hard to tame a wild sweet tooth, but there’s no reason we can’t indulge in a delicious treat and mind our health at the same time. This week we’re featuring three brilliant and healthy variations on classic desserts. Variations that maintain the thrill of a decadent treat, but omit unnecessary butter, sugar and cream.
Indulge, with no guilt, and no sugar-blues regrets.
Acai Berry Tart
It’s vegan. It’s gluten-free. It’s simply outrageous! Jennifer Strohmeyer (VirtuallyVeganMama) wows her mother-in-law with this show-stopping berry tart. You’ll wow your guests, too, if you can keep from devouring it yourself!
A Different Kind of Baklava
This amazing recipe does use butter for the distinctive flaky texture, but substitutes a little saffron syrup for the typical overly sweet and sticky honey. Urvashee Patel shares her mother’s uniquely delicious and healthy version of baklava, with her own signature tweak: the addition of cacao nibs!

Greek Yogurt Crème Brûlée
Yes, a sinfully rich and creamy creme brulee without the heart-stopping 40% fat heavy cream! Brian Samuels developed this exquisite recipe for Chobani (which we already adore on our granola!) and we think you’ll be as dazzled as we are.
