Pan Roasted Baby Artichokes, Crispy Potato Roast, and Strawberry Blueberry Cobbler
Fresh and fun ideas from the best food bloggers
BY THE MAGAZINE OF YOGA STAFF
This week we’ve been shopping for a new oven – our hearth, the warm, nurturing center of our kitchen and of our home. We needed very little prodding to follow our superintendent’s strong and paternal recommendation that we not mess around with trying to repair an old gas stove!
We’re loving thinking about this most basic piece of kitchen equipment, and of all the joys and tantalizing aromas we’ll happily create with burners that sear, simmer and saute with precision, and an oven that bakes, braises and broils with aplomb. Healthy home-cooked meals for ourselves and convivial gatherings for our friends and family.
We’re drawn this week to recipes prepared in the warm heart of the household: dishes that are pan-roasted and oven baked yet retain the light touch of Spring. And all three of these delectables can be enjoyed hot out of the pan, or cooled down and tucked away for later in a picnic basket to be savored in the park or at the beach.
Pan Roasted Baby Artichokes With Pistachios, Lemon And Black Quinoa
Scientist and San Francisco foodie Darya Pino serendipitously invented this dish with what she had on hand one day, and what a spectacular result! Sweet, tangy, creamy, nutty. These artichokes will knock your socks off!

Crispy Potato Roast
“If you think you’ve had roasted potatoes before, you have seen but through a mirror dimly.” Enough said. Zach and Clay bring us these beautifully caramelized and perfectly crisped potatoes, the height of simplicity and comfort.
Strawberry Blueberry Cobbler
Tami Hardeman’s cobbler is everything it should be. In her words: Delicious. Inviting. Unintimidating. Vibrant berries are hitting the markets and this not perfect but just right cobbler is one excellent way to celebrate their goodness.
