BY LIL OMM YOGINI KATE LANDIS

okay, I totally teared up when writing this…a love letter, if you will. :-)

About a year ago I faced a complete life change – I quit my job, became a mother, and discovered I lived in a town where my only connection to people was through work.

I had come back to the mat to find balance, and was sharing that practice with my newborn through Baby Yoga. But I still felt something was missing.

Then I was lucky enough to have lil omm open in my neighborhood.

Beyond asana classes, lil omm is a place that embodies the phrase “taking it off the mat.” From the moment you walk in the door, you can feel it.

Everyone is greeted not only by teachers and staff, but by the warmth of those around you. Before and after classes are times of catching up, sharing in each other’s lives, connecting and finding community.

Only respect

What is amazing is that it never feels forced or manipulated, because it comes as natural extension of the mission, which is so much more than words on paper.

From the littlest yogis to the seniors who are starting yoga for the first time, there is this complete reverence for the place everyone is at, and only respect for why everyone is here.

lil omm is more than a yoga studio. It is a place with heart, soul and spirit.

As a new mother, lil omm has taught me so much about being a parent, and gives me a small little slice of the universe that I can use as an example of what kindness in the world can achieve.

Constantly empowered

As a yogini, I am constantly empowered. They have given me the confidence to be my own teacher, and showed me how important it is to look at my practice beyond the asanas to my home, my neighborhood, and my world.

It has made my practice stronger. It has made me stronger. It has made our community stronger.

And for that, I will be forever grateful.
