Yoga develops integrity
Integrity is the relationship of energy and power.
That relationship is essential to life. The way we embody that relationship is really who we are in the world. It’s our truth.
Getting clear on that, developing integrity, is fundamentally why we practice yoga.
Asana is creativity and productivity dancing face to face. Form and content taking the measure of, and enjoying the pleasure of each other. Each of us is the perfected vehicle of that dance. Eagle posture is an excellent example.
Notice what happens when the back is round. The head is forward of the center of the body, the heart is pulled back and away from the challenge.
Arching the back is another temptation. The posture gets a big feeling this way, but you get that boost by crushing the discs of your low back and neck, which are vulnerable areas of the body.
Integrity is your commitment to bring yourself, your responsibilities, and your values into equal participation in your life.
It’s bringing things into relationship so they function as a whole.
True integrity the dance of strength and flexibility.
It’s developing the capacity, to remain aligned in your choices.
